Elite Ghosts
by Jennifer Kacey

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Military and MC Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

For more than two years they’ve been ghosts. Nothing but names on empty tombstones. Men and women forced to fade into the background after being pulled from the rubble. Dead Marines saved from a fate worse than death, but ordered to stand down while their lives disappeared all around them.

Some knew it could happen if a mission exploded. Double crossed by more than just Red Wolf. But now is their time to be reborn from the flames of a Phoenix. No longer imprisoned in the shadows. A half-life between them and their future. To make things right coming back to life is their only option.

Excerpt:

Lithium’s Rescue Excerpt By Sabrina York

It was late. Too late for a man to be standing in an endless field, surrounded by silent, shadowed tombstones, but Benedict Butler preferred it this way. It seemed fitting that when a man visited his own grave, he did so in the dead of night.

He shouldn’t have come. He should have known how hard this would hit him. But living with the guilt, the regret, the pain was hard too. He’d probably hoped that somehow this would help. Somehow this would ease the pain.

It did not.

Made it worse, in fact.

Made the memories sharper.

Fallen friends were difficult to forget.

He bowed his head and said something that resembled a prayer, though he wasn’t a praying man. If there was a God in heaven above, he could only hope he was a forgiving sort of god.

It was probably a foolish hope. Some things could not be forgiven.

Since the mission that had taken his friends, peppered his body and face with scars, wreathed his soul in darkness, Benedict had lived in a shadow world, unconnected to anything real, un-centered, lost. Only recently had fate given him something to cling to, something to believe in. Something to fight for.

He sent up another prayer, this, one of gratitude.

He didn’t know who he would be, what he would have become, had Titanium not found him and pulled him back into the fold. He would sacrifice his life for the team. Indeed, he would gladly do so if it could expunge even a fraction of his sins.

He would do anything.

The soft buzz of his cell phone pulled him from his gloomy reflection. He checked the number before he answered. He wasn’t in the mood to chat, but it was his team leader.

Sir?” A clipped bark.

Lithium?” Titanium’s low bass rumbled through the speaker.

Yes, sir?”

Interview with author Jennifer Kacey:

  1. What drew you to writing this genre?
A group of us wanted to write together and not just a same ol’ same ol’ boxed set kind of book. But a cohesive world that all intertwined and each of the books fed on each other creating one big book. It’s been a trip to write. And LOVE the other authors I get to write with. They’re each incredible and bring something unique to the series.

2. Which of your characters has been the easiest to write and/or the hardest to write?
In Elite Metal I wrote Chrome – One of the easiest characters I’ve ever been able to write. That story poured out of me. It was an incredible writing journey.

In Elite Ghosts I wrote Titanium who’s also known as Daddy Warbucks the head of the Elite groups. He’s damaged in more ways than one. Physically, emotionally, survivor guilt to top it all off. Writing someone so scarred was amazing. I was honestly a bit nervous when I decided he was the Ghost I wanted to tackle. Couldn’t write his story fast enough either.
Writing in this word is like nothing I’ve ever been involved in. Love it.

3. Do you have a favorite place or ritual for writing?
In my office is the best place. Would love to be able to write in bed but it’s just too comfy and I end up getting too sleepy. I work a lot of 11 hour days at my real job and write at night. So if I’m ever even too close to a bed I get sleepy by osmosis. As for a ritual I have to have a coffee mug with iced water with me. Super cold. Just love that.

4. How do you balance writing with me/family time?
You just do it. I write at night, normally after my miniman goes to bed. Hate it interfering with my time with him. But I also write a lot on the weekends as well. Take breaks, go watch movies, cook and eat together. Just make it work.

5. What are you working on now?

The next two in the Fantasies A-Z’s Series, a story for Penthouse Magazine (so dirty), Ultimate Surrender the next book in my Surrender Series, a Black Hills Wolves book, the next in my Shadow Mates Series. I think in the next 12 months I’m going to have 14 releases or something crazy like that. Love writing and I love getting to pub with houses and indie and boxed sets and novellas and short stories and ginormous books. It’s a little bit of everything. Makes me happy!!
