FROM GOODREADS: Shey Darcy, a 39-year-old former top model for Vogue and Sports Illustrated led a charmed life in New York City with a handsome photographer husband until the day he announced he'd fallen in love with someone else. Left to pick up the pieces of her once happy world, Shey decides to move back home to Texas with her three teenage sons. Life on the family ranch, however, brings with it a whole new host of dramas starting with differences of opinion with her staunch Southern Baptist mother, her rugged but overprotective brothers, and daily battles with her three sons who are also struggling to find themselves. Add to the mix Shey's ex-crush, Dane Kelly, a national bull riding champ and she's got her hands full. It doesn't take long before Shey realizes that in order to reinvent herself, she must let go of an uncertain future and a broken past, to find happiness--and maybe love--in the present
MY TAKE: I pretty much knew I'd enjoy this book right from the start. I've enjoyed Jane Porter's books before and this one has some elements that I'm familiar with in my own life, including growing up on a ranch. I was very impressed by her treatment of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders). I know several people who are involved both behind the chutes and in the arena and feel that she did a great job of portraying this life.
The fact that Shey isn't a dewy-eyed little girl is another positive for me. She's an experienced woman who's been around the world and has to literally take her life by the horns to wrestle back control. I like strong female characters and Shey fits this description well.
A delightful read that most anyone will consider a favorite. (Of course, you gotta love them cowboys! I do..)
MY RATING: 4/5

Hi, yes I knew what PBR meant before reading this. My first husband rode bulls for 10 years and won enough to pay the bills. But that was the "old" days when we all ran around with Larry Mahan and Jim Shoulders. I would love to win this book, read it and also review it on my blog. Your blog is the greatest, I am a follower now so I can keep up with you. Take care.
