One World One Heart 2011

Welcome to One Book Shy of a Full Shelf.  For those of you who are new to us, we hope you'll stay and visit.  And for you lovelies who are loyal readers of my rhetoric, welcome back!  So I'll tell you just a bit about me before sending you on your merry way.

I'm Jules!  I am a very happily married woman who lives with the hubby and a houseful of cats and dogs on 10 acres out in the boondocks.  We also have horses, cattle and chickens - but not in the house :)  We raise a lot of our own food and strive to live a green life in whatever ways we can.  I must admit that among the many hobbies and interests that I pursue, I also have an addiction.  It is that of books and the written word.
My name is Jules,  I LOVE books and I am a bookaholic.

*****In answer to those who wonder about the blog title, it's a play on that old insult:  "one brick shy of a full load" - the hubby insists I will always be searching for the next great book and thus my shelf will never be full.  Alas, I'm afraid he's right..

This is the 5th and unfortunately, the final year of this fabulous event masterminded by Lisa from A Whimsical Bohemian.  My initial foray into blogging started (at my other blog MoonCat Farms Meanderings) two years ago TODAY because of this event.  The warmth and welcome from so many bloggers on this fantastic tour across the blogging world
encouraged me to jump in and get my feet wet.  Now I'm also sharing my opinions ~ solicited and otherwise.. here at One Book Shy of a Full Shelf.
So, enough about me..on to OWOH 2011!  Lisa created this amazing international blog tour to encourage bloggers to get to know one another.  It was billed as an "open house" of sorts where we would all cruise around and "meet" each other - all over the world!  I have befriended several lovely ladies I met on my first hop two years ago that I still correspond with on a regular basis.  They're awesome and I might have never found them if not for One World One Heart!  Thank you for your vision Lisa!!
To encourage everyone to continue visiting other bloggers on the list and find amazing blogs that are new to them, there are "door prizes".  Each site has some little goody or two, that they're giving away to one or more lucky visitors.  The tour lasts from January 30th to February 17th.  This will give you plenty of time to meet and greet lots of participating bloggers who share the same interests as you or those who can introduce you to some new things!

Because this is a book blog, I think I will gift one lucky visitor with something book related.  How about a book of your choice up to $10.00 from:

The Book Depository

Fill out the form below to enter.  Because this is a blogger-to-blogger event, you MUST have an active blog to enter this drawing.  Winner will be drawn by a random number generator.  Once the winner is notified, they will have 48 hours to respond.  Good luck!

Click the OWOH logo below to take you to the page with the list of participating blogs.

Thanks for stopping by One Book Shy, we hope you'll come back to see us soon.  While you're still here, check out our GIVEAWAY page for several drawings going on now.

  3. I love books, we have piles, in corners, and not in corners, on chairs, next to my bed, lining my children's walls... and graphic novels, and... well my 16 year old is in the middle of writing a epic, really, she's illustrating main characters too to get a handle on them... on Valentines Day I'm going to post one of the stories my husband (I call him my soulmate, he calls me his burden) that he has written over the past 22 years we've been together &... hang on, crappola, I got off track again... By the way I'm pleased to meet you (I'm Shelle from Sunshine Coast Australia) If you have time I'd love you to come on over check out my giveaways & comment at my OWOH post too :) One World One Heart... It's a marathon BUT SO MUCH FUN!!!! (You could write a book about it)!

  7. Oh a kindred spirit. I love books and moved across continents two years ago. Had a hard time deciding which of my many precious books had to go. I think that I have rapidly filled in the gaps with new acquisitions.

  32. Hi Jules,
You have an interesting blog, I'll have to come back and explore more. I like that you do book reviews. I do love to read, but I usually have to decide / create dolls or read. I find they're both a great escape. I hate it when I've finished a really good book. I just want more!

  47. A book is a perfect gift. In fact, I give a book at every special event to my niece, my grandmother, my husband, and my dad. I am a collector of books, all types of books really, but very enthusiastically of rare and first editions. As a child, I would rather stay indoors with a book than to do anything else....well except for, perhaps, taking a blanket outside and laying in the shade reading my book. Anyway, as you can tell, I would LOVE to be the winner of your giveaway!! Thank you so much for the chance to win something book related!

    All good wishes,
    Paula
